On behalf of the board of directors, staff, and clients/workers at Hockanum Industries welcome to our new and updated web site.  We hope that by scanning through the different categories, stories and links, you will get to know us and our mission better:

….To provide gainful employment, training, support and retirement services for developmentally disabled individuals through the dignity of work, community interaction, and structured activities. 

Providing training and employment opportunities for developmentally disabled individuals is a truly fulfilling way to make a living.  While typical individuals may dream of making a livable wage, receiving a raise, winning the lottery, or retiring to Florida, developmentally disabled individuals often dream of obtaining independence and living in an apartment alone or with a friend.  Hockanum Industries provides a bridge to that dream by providing over 40 individuals with vocational training, supportive services, and gainful employment.   Their dreams become our dreams, too!

We are always looking for individual positions and job sites in neighboring communities for small groups of our individuals to work with Hockanum crew supervisors.  Our client/workers are motivated to please their employers and our staff strives to help them achieve their highest potential. 

To support our client/workers and their families and caregivers, we are looking ahead towards offering respite services as part of our day program.  Additionally, we hope to offer a new Life Skills Training Program for our client/workers and any other DMR involved individuals that are working towards greater independence in their lives.  It is exciting to contemplate these opportunities as Hockanum Industries, Inc. moves towards its 30-year anniversary serving developmentally disabled people in Tolland County and beyond.
